Margot Robbie ended her big Barbie award season run with one last red carpet look. Robbie wore a black sequined Versace gown on the Academy Awards red carpet tonight. She accessorized with a gold bangle and ring.

Robbie has paid tribute to Barbie by channeling different iterations of the doll throughout the decades during her red carpet appearances. At the Golden Globes, for example, Robbie dressed like 1977’s Superstar Barbie in a sequinned hot pink Armani dress, Manolo Blahnik heels, and Lorraine Schwartz jewellery.

Robbie, to much controversy, is not nominated in the Best Actress category at tonight’s Oscars. Barbie’s director, Greta Gerwig, also wasn’t nominated in the best director category.

Barbie is up for eight awards though, including Best Picture, Best Adapted Screenplay, Best Original Song (both “I’m Just Ken” and Billie Eilish’s “What Was I Made For?” are nominated), and Best Costume Design. Robbie’s co-stars Ryan Gosling, who played Ken, and America Ferrera, who played Gloria, are nominated for Best Supporting Actor and Actress, respectively. Gosling will be performing “I’m Just Ken” during the show, too.

Robbie addressed her snub at the end of January. During a SAG screening of Barbie, Robbie said via Deadline, “There’s no way to feel sad when you know you’re this blessed.”

Regarding Gerwig’s exclusion, she added, “Obviously I think Greta should be nominated as a director, because what she did is a once-in-a-career, once-in-a-lifetime thing, what she pulled off, it really is. But it’s been an incredible year for all the films.”

Robbie touched on the greater impact of Barbie, which grossed $1.4 billion. “I just suspect it’s bigger than us,” she said. “It’s bigger than this movie, it’s bigger than our industry.”

“We set out to do something that would shift culture, affect culture, just make some sort of impact,” she added. “And it’s already done that, and some, way more than we ever dreamed it would. And that is truly the biggest reward that could come out of all of this.”
