Aesop

Until June 27th, Aesop‘s Queen West location will be hosting the ephemeral Aesop Queer Library, offering each visitor a complimentary book elevating the stories of LGBTQIA2S+ individuals from everywhere in the world.

So whether you’re an Aesop regular or a first-timer, you get to take home one of the 150 cherished works of queer literature chosen by the brand, spanning fiction, nonfiction and poetry.

With all shelves cleared and replaced with books that give the featured authors –with a spotlight on BIPOC and trans authors– the prominence they deserve, there’s something for all bibliophiles.

Aesop’s Chief Marketing Officer Adam Kakembo, explained that the way Aesop has chosen to celebrate Pride in North America is one of the brand’s most unique activations to date. “We are not simply changing our logo or launching a Pride-themed collection, this multi-layer gesture of generosity is aimed at supporting our LGBTQIA2S+ staff, customers, independent queer-owned bookstores and the [Toronto community].”

To support independent queer bookstores in Canada, over 3,000 books were purchased from Glad Day Bookshop in Toronto—the longest surviving LGBTQIA2S+ bookstore worldwide.
