Kaitlyn Bristowe – winner of Dancing With The Stars and one of the most beloved Bachelorette contestants to date – has been keeping busy. Between interacting with her 1.9 million followers on Instagram, running her two businesses Spade and Sparrows and Dew Edit, and hosting her own wine podcast, Off The Vine, the Canadian-born TV celeb is a bonafide multi-hyphenate. Now, she’s teamed up with natural deodorant brand Schmidt’s to kick off the launch of the new Coconut & Pineapple and Sandalwood & Citrus scents and spread the news about their new campaign, debunking FOBO – aka fear of body odour.

Her personal biggest FOBO moment? “Oh my gosh, it has to go back to Dancing with the Stars,” she tells us over Zoom while cozied up with her two golden retrievers, Pinot and Ramen. “You know you’ve got that FOBO when you’re up close and personal with your dance partner, and you’re putting your arms around them, and their head is all up in there,” she says with a laugh.

Ahead, we caught up with the TV star, influencer and entrepreneur and got a peek into her day-to-day life.

How has your quarantine year been?

I go back and forth on this answer. I want to try to be positive… It’s actually been okay for me. I think the toughest part is that this is the longest I’ve ever gone without seeing family – that’s been really hard. But I’ve actually been able to really be present in my businesses. I’m working on my podcast, my wine label, my scrunchie line Dew Edit, and now my partnership with Schmidt’s. So it’s been hard and nice at the same time.

With all the projects you have going on, how do you manage to keep your cool?

I don’t (laughs). I’m human, I have my moments where I definitely cannot keep my cool. But I think it’s about who you surround yourself with. I have a really great team that keeps me on track with everything that I need to get done. And it really is kind of helpful to be stuck at home because I can be a little more organized.

Tell us about your decision to partner with Schmidt’s.

About two years ago, after hearing some horror stories of all the nasty ingredients in regular deodorant, I decided to make the switch [to natural deodorant].  It was a big process for me to narrow down the best option. I talked about it on my podcast, I tried many different kinds, and the one that really worked for me was Schmidt’s. They smell amazing, and the fact that they offer 24-hour full protection is definitely a bonus. I just really stand behind the product.

You mentioned you’re a big fan of the scents. What’s your favourite in the collection?

My personal favourite is the Lavender and Sage from the signature collection – it smells just like a spa. Anything lavender I’m like YES. It’s just so relaxing and tranquil.

If you could personalize your own scent, what would it be?

If I could personalize a deo scent, I would do the smell of Hawaii. There’s this smell when you get off the plane. It’s like fresh flowers, it’s the best smell. And my other favourite smell is linen. So I would mix linen and Hawaii.

What’s the first thing you do when you wake up and the last thing you do before you go to bed?

Kiss my dogs [Ramen and Pinot], and kiss my dogs!

“Pinot” as in Pinot noir, or Pinot grigio?

Whatever you want it to be, that’s what it is. But I call him Pinot G, so maybe Pinot grigio.

Blonde or brunette?

I miss my blonde so much and I feel more myself as a blonde, but I’m really warming up to having darker hair. And it’s definitely healthier. So I’m going to convince myself that it’s brunette.

Your must-have hair product?

I haven’t been putting anything on my hair lately because I’m trying to just let it go, but probably some sort of root pump. I like big hair.

Lipstick or mascara?

I love lipstick! I’m 35 now, but when I was [in my 20’s] I would rock bright pink and red lipsticks before it was a thing. And I loved it. Anything that’s matte and bright, I like.

What’s your favourite social media platform?

Probably Instagram, because I love being able to create my own stories and I like to bring people along with me. TikTok‘s fun too. I follow comedians and cooking accounts, and actually, I feel like I get educated on TikTok, believe it or not.

What are you currently watching on TV?

Little Fires Everywhere with Reese Witherspoon. I’m right in the thick of it!

Who is your beauty inspiration? Your style inspiration?

Hailey Bieber. She’s very minimal and natural, and that’s what I’m enjoying these days. I also feel like she rocks so many edgy things. I really like edgy style, and I feel like she does it really well.

Chill night in or crazy night out?

Can I say both? I love chill nights in but once in a blue moon I like to get crazy.

Curling up with a good book or crushing a TV series?

TV series. Although I do love reading a good book, I would much rather watch a TV series.

White wine or red wine?

Red wine. Again, both, but red wine takes the cake.
