Olivia Rodrigo’s Style Is in a New Era—Here’s How to Recreate It
Good idea, right?
by : Angela Wei- Sep 7th, 2023

While summer may slipping away, there are still exciting things to look forward to in the upcoming months. For instance, layering up for fall fashion and getting ready for Olivia Rodrigo’s new album, Guts.
Rodrigo has been making public appearances lately to promote her sophomore album dropping on September 8, and with that comes an array of good looks. With the help of her stylist Danielle Goldberg, Rodrigo has been experimenting with her fashion, mixing hallmark pieces like pleated mini skirts and vintage tees with edgier, more unexpected items like fuzzy mini dresses.
Although the singer’s looks are still in line with her alt-pop princess image, we couldn’t help but notice that her wardrobe has become a bit moodier and bolder as of late — perhaps signaling a shift in the sound of her new music.
As we wait for the edgy successor to Sour let’s take a look at the steady flow of good looks Rodrigo has been serving recently—and how to recreate them yourself.
Olivia in the “Bad Idea Right?” Music Video
In the music video for second single of the Guts era, Rodrigo dons a cropped blue, long-sleeve sweater and sparkly silver mini skirt, reminiscent of an outfit worn by Liv Tyler in Empire Records. She paired this with ripped black tights and a chunky red heart choker, giving the nostalgic look even more of a ‘90s feel. This outfit could be a great option for anyone looking to get dressed up as Rodrigo for Halloween.

Rodrigo channels academia core while promoting her forthcoming album. The singer wears a short-sleeved black sweater with a schoolgirl pleated skirt and heeled Mary Janes. The sweater-skirt combo is the perfect combo for gradually changing fall weather.
Olivia at a Chelsea F.C. game in London
New Chelsea fan unlocked: Rodrigo attends her first football game and is presented with a blue number eight football shirt by Chelsea player Ben Chilwell. For the occasion, Rodrigo wears a pretty archival Betsey Johnson dress and some retro brown suede boots, a look that is tinged with the fall spirit.
Olivia sightseeing in London
Any Olivia Rodrigo stan knows that the singer is a big fan of mini skirts. Rodrigo styled a preppy pleated red mini skirt with a black form-fitting tank top and some black chunky boots for a day of sightseeing in London. This outfit is the perfect solution for those “do I dress for summer or do I dress for fall” days.

Olivia on a night out in London
The “vampire” singer went for a classic look while leaving her London hotel, proving that less is oftentimes more. Rodrigo looked chic in a black boatneck T-shirt and a pair of high-waisted flared denim jeans. She was more risqué on the footwear front, opting for a pair of Maison Margiela Tabi split-toe heel pumps as she traversed the unforgiving cobbled London floor.
Olivia Leaving BBC Radio Studios
Rodrigo digressed from her regular Y2K wardrobe with this 1960s mod-inspired outfit while leaving an interview at BBC Radio. The look in question was a Patou cutout fuzzy mini dress worn backward, with matching white knee-height boots. The pop star accessorized simply with a pair of oval sunglasses.
