Kayaking in the waters of Wekiva
With Florida’s mild weather, kayaking expeditions are the perfect way to spend a day on the calm waters of Wekiva, which offer a gentle, relaxing ride – although there are a few alligators nearby!
Paddle boarding along Orlando's shores
Staying with the theme of water sports, why not try paddle boarding? Surprisingly, the sport can be practiced at several locations across the city. For our part, we turned to Epic Paddle Adventure, a company that organizes a host of outings – day and evening – to discover the city from a whole new perspective.
Lunch at The Hall on the Yard
Akin to a Time Out Market, The Hall on the Yard is the ideal place for meeting with friends after a day’s work. With its indoor and outdoor facilities, this food hall-style venue is the perfect place to have a good time and sample food from the many restaurants on site. High tables, artificial turf, large armchairs and a small bar outside; chic, stylish and modern decor inside: we love it!
Beer tasting
We headed to Ivanhoe Park Brewing Company, an independent craft brewery located in historic Ivanhoe, to sample the local brews. A former amusement park located on the shores of Lake Ivanhoe, the brewery offers over a dozen beers to taste, a tour of the production facilities and also boasts a beautiful outdoor area.
FYI: there are many places in the heart of Orlando offering beer tastings (Gnarly Barley, Yard House or Crooked Can Brewing Company).
Fun at the Dr. Phillips Center for the performing Arts
A must-see is the Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts, located in downtown Orlando. It joins the Bob Carr Theatre, which opened as Orlando’s municipal auditorium in 1927, to become Orlando’s premier performing arts venue. Whether you’re here to see a musical or just to take in the sights, one thing’s for sure: you’ll come away amazed!
Shopping
If there’s one thing we love to do on any trip, it’s a little shopping – and at reduced prices, it’s even better! That’s what Orlando’s Premium Outlets are all about, with over 180 boutiques and a wide selection of kiosks of all kinds. Get out your baskets, it’s time to find the best bargains.
Having a good time at Boxi Park
Super festive and welcoming, Boxi Park offers food trucks with tempting offers and live music for all passers-by. Picnic tables, a performance stage, deckchairs, a small artificial beach and a volleyball court provide hours of fun, all in a colorful urban ambience. Explore with family and friends!
Amway Center
Looking for a fun activity? Head to the Amway Center for a game of basketball with the Orlando Magic, the city’s professional basketball team, or take in a concert. Animation, entertainment, contests, food and of course, lots of fun await us. Accommodating nearly 20,000 people, the stadium – which opened its doors in 2010 – has also since played host to such stars as Paul McCartney, Ed Sheeran, Taylor Swift, Justin Timberlake and Billie Eilish.
A stroll through downtown Orlando
A walk – or bike ride – remains one of the best ways to visit and discover the city. Wear sunglasses and good walking shoes, and stroll through the many streets of the city center, discovering the restaurants, pubs and shops. Need a break? Take advantage of the parks and green spaces to relax and admire the surroundings.
Universal Studios Florida (Endless Summer Resort)
One of the city’s must-sees is Universal Studios. The numerous activities and new attractions keep young and old entertained all year round. The park also organizes themed events for special occasions such as Mardi Gras, Halloween and Christmas.
If you’re looking for a place to stay with the whole family, the Endless Summer Resort is ideal: wide-open spaces, a vast outdoor pool, a warm and friendly atmosphere, plus regular shuttles to the amusement parks.
