Summer officially began on Sunday and it’s anyone’s guess what the song of the season will be this year. Spotify has revealed their official predictions for the biggest summer smash and the list features many TikTok favourites: “Watermelon Sugar” by Harry Styles, despite being released in 2019, is a contender, along with “Savage” by Megan Thee Stallion ft. Beyoncé, “Rockstar” by DaBaby ft. Roddy Rich and “TKN” by ROSALÍA and Travis Scott.

A number of politically-charged tracks have made their way into the list, given the civil rights protests happening globally to fight anti-Black racism. Childish Gambino’s “This is America,” “Alright” by Kendrick Lamar and Beyoncé’s new track “BLACK PARADE” are all expected to stay on summer soundtracks.

Should you be feeling a wave of nostalgia for pre-pandemic summers, Your Summer Rewind – a personalized feature on Spotify including playlists of your previous summer music faves – is back on the streaming platform. In order to qualify for Your Summer Rewind, you are required to have listened to music on Spotify in previous summers, from 2016 to 2019. You can find your customized playlist in the Summer Hub on Spotify.

In the meantime, check out the Songs of Summer playlist to make your prediction for the hit song of summer 2020.
