If there’s one artist who has kept it consistent throughout the past decade, it’s Canada’s biggest rap export, Drake. He’s released ten albums over the past ten years, including the compilation album “Care Package” in 2019, so it’s no surprise that he’s been announced as Spotify’s Artist of the Decade, with the highest number of streams (248 billion) globally.

The streaming service launched their “Wrapped” campaign today, which allows users to see their most-listened to artists and songs of the past year. As the 2010s come to a close, they are taking it one step further with “A Decade Wrapped,” by releasing stats from the past ten years.

“Shape of You” by Ed Sheeran remains the most-streamed song on Spotify in the last decade, with a whopping 2.3 billion plays.

Sheeran joins Drake, Ariana Grande, Post Malone and Eminem as the top five most streamed artists of the decade.

As for Canadian Spotify users, Drake, The Weeknd and Justin Bieber are the most streamed Canadian artists of the decade.

With over 6.5 billion global streams this year, Post Malone reigns supreme as the most-streamed artist of 2019. The Texas-native released his album “Hollywood’s Bleeding” back in September and it has the second-highest streams of the year, following Billie Eilish’s debut album “WHEN WE ALL FALL ASLEEP, WHERE DO WE GO?”.

Globally, the song with the highest number of streams this year is “Señorita” by Camila Cabello and Shawn Mendes, which has more than 1 billion streams. It’s followed by “bad guy” by Billie Eilish, coming close at more than 995 million streams.

Spotify also shared the most-streamed songs of 2019 for each Canadian province and territory – and everyone was pretty much listening to the same three tracks.
