Demi Lovato’s latest announcement is cause for celebration: the musician and her boyfriend, actor Max Ehrich, are officially engaged.

Ehrich popped the question on Wednesday, while the couple were spending time at a Malibu beach. Lovato revealed the news with an Instagram post shortly thereafter. “When I was a little girl, my birth dad always called me his “little partner” – something that might’ve sounded strange without his southern cowboy like accent,” she captioned the post. “To me it made perfect sense. And today that word makes perfect sense again but today I’m officially going to be someone else’s partner.”

People revealed that Lovato started dating the former Young and the Restless star less than four months ago, after speculation due to their flirty social media posts.
