Everything Coming to Netflix Canada in September 2023
Here, we highlight the new titles arriving on Netflix Canada this month to help you decide what to watch.

Netflix (Love at First Sight)
Top Boy (Season 3)
I’ll be honest: I’ve yet to watch Top Boy. I know the show—about two drug dealers living in estate housing—is popular and well liked, and it has long been on my never-ending list of things to watch one day should I magically have more time. But the third and final season of the British crime drama’s Netflix revival (it previously aired in another iteration on broadcast TV in the UK) has piqued my interest yet again, but for a different reason this time: Barry Keoghan, arguably one of the most interesting young actors working right now, is joining the cast.
Available: September 7
Virgin River (Season 5)
The fifth season of cozy small-town drama Virgin River is doing what it does best: bringing enough drama to remain interesting, but not enough that it feels like the stakes are too high for the show to be a comforting watch. In this new batch of episodes, Mel (Alexandra Breckenridge) decides to prioritize her health and high-risk pregnancy over work—but there are also new secrets and a looming wildfire that threaten to upend the town’s status quo.
Available: September 7
A Time Called You
Jeon Yeo-been (Be Melodramatic, Vincenzo) and Ahn Hyo-seop (Dr. Romantic, A Business Proposal) are two names any avid K-drama watcher knows well, and now the pair are combining their talents in new romantic series A Time Called You. There’s also a time-travelling a twist with this show as it follows a young woman mourning the death of her boyfriend when she is suddenly sent back to 1998. There, she finds herself in the body of a high school student and meets a boy who looks a lot like her lost love.
Available: September 8
Selling The OC (Season 2)
Selling The OC is back for another season to fill the Selling Sunset void. This time around, the real estate agents are potentially getting a new colleague and branching their business out to Cabo. Also, there will be plenty of interpersonal drama because, duh.
Available: September 8
About Time
About Time, which was written and directed by romcom legend Richard Curtis (Four Weddings and a Funeral, Notting Hill, Bridget Jones’s Diary) is one of the movies I recommend most because it is, in my opinion, severely underrated. It follows Tim (Domhnall Gleeson) who, upon turning 21, finds out that the men in his family can travel through time. When he meets Mary (Rachel McAdams), the girl of his dreams, Tim uses his ability to make sure everything in their relationship is absolutely perfect (yes, this sounds kind of creepy, but just trust me and go with it). It’s charming, moving and even surprising—everything you want from this kind of film.
Available: September 15
Love at First Sight
The White Lotus star Haley Lu Richardson is bringing her zillennial wits to a new romcom, Love at First Sight. Adapted from a Jennifer E. Smith novel, the flick tells the story of two strangers who meet on a flight to London and form an instant connection. When they get separated before they can exchange contact info, only the universe can decide if they’ll find their way back to each other.
Available: September 15
Sex Education (Season 4)
You know what they say: All good things must come to an end, and this month, that means saying goodbye to Sex Education. In the fourth and final season of the British dramedy, our beloved characters find themselves at a new school, where resident amateur sex therapist Otis (Asa Butterfield) discovers he’s not the only one with his expertise. And in delightful Canadian news, Dan Levy also joins the cast.
Available: September 21
Love Is Blind (Season 5)
There are two types of people in this world: those who watch Love Is Blind—a dating series where people attempt to get engaged without ever meeting face to face—and those who don’t. I fall in the latter group, but I know for a fact that people in the former will be thrilled to hear that the show is back for a fifth season this month.
Available: September 22
Spy Kids: Armageddon
Can Spy Kids: Armageddon—about the children of two super spies coming together to save the world (and their parents) from a dangerous computer virus—possibly live up to the memory and expectations of younger millennials everywhere first established by the original films from the early 2000s? Probably not. But I do think the kids of today deserve a quality Spy Kids movie, so fingers crossed.
Available: September 22
Love Is in the Air
If your favourite part of You’ve Got Mail is the fact that Meg Ryan’s Kathleen Kelly falls in love with Tom Hanks’s Joe Fox despite the fact that his big-box bookstore puts her adorable indie shop out of business, Australian romcom Love Is in the Air might be for you. It follows a pilot (musician-actor Delta Goodrem) struggling to keep her family’s business afloat as she begins to develop feelings for the man (Joshua Sasse) who is threatening to shut it down.
