Are we still under the influence of mermaidcore or is it that 2000s trends just won’t quit? Whatever’s happening, now is the time to shine brighter than a diamond with shimmering makeup looks, metallic liners, glitter, sparkle and pearlescent skin. The golden (or silver) rule? To hell with what other people think—we’re here for a good time!

As confirmed by the Dior, Valentino, Versace, Louis Vuitton, Givenchy and Rick Owens runways, the goth-grunge vibe has found new energy across the beauty board—but with a doll like twist. On offer are dramatic smoky eyes, smudged kohl, sombre lips, metallic touches and bleached eyebrows.

For a few years running, blush has been everywhere: on cheekbones, eyelids, outer-eye corners, temples and even noses. This season, it’s even replacing bronzer and highlighter as a way to create a healthy-looking complexion, meaning your pink, red, purple, coral or orangey blush can go everywhere.

Looking for a rad new way to create a dazzling look? Zhuzh those lashes with feathers, colour that pops or perfectly positioned clusters.

On lips, lids and cheekbones, a mere smear of translucent vinyl-effect gloss will get you the luxe texture you’re after while also elevating your lewk.

Want a mani that’s classic but still stands out? Fall/winter trends are on your side with neutral polishes—just make sure they’re ultra glossy—that set the stage for all kinds of nail art, including metallic stickers, geometric shapes, playful stripes, colourful tips and glittery or pearlescent finishes.

The famous cat-eye is probably the most becoming and seductive eyeliner look to date—and it works like a charm on pretty much any eye shape. Ready for more good news? Fall/winter has about a thousand iterations of it, from the classic to geometric lines to siren-eye styles to the super-bold block eyeliner.

The catwalks at Diesel, Anna Sui, Palomo Spain and Richard Quinn were all calling for a fall full of neons and bright pastels. Pinks, blues, greens, yellows, oranges, purples and whites are all on the table—as long as they’re flashy.

Although glitter and Crayola colours are topping this season’s charts, rich, earthy tones haven’t had their last word. As seen on the runways at Badgley Mischka, Emporio Armani, Jason Wu, Carolina Herrera and Ulla Johnson, sizzlingly sexy monochromatic looks are here to heat up our skin after summer has ended.

The days when bright red was just for big nights out are over. This beloved vibrant shade is now used to highlight the eyes—when applied as a diffused smoky eye or a thin under-eye liner—and worn as an everyday staple on the lips in all its matte, satin, ultra-shimmery, ombré or gradient glory.
