Do you ever wonder what kind of vibe your
lipstick colour gives off? (Is a pink lip too girlie for you? Can a nude lip be too boring for your fun personality?) We spoke to Diana Carreiro–Hair and Makeup Artist for Toronto’s Page One Management–to find out what your
lip colour really says about your true spirit. (This may just convince you to
switch up your lipstick shade!)
A RED LIP COLOUR
Designer inspiration: Marc by Marc Jacobs Fall 2013 (above)
Lipstick to try: Givenchy Le Rouge Intense Color Sensuously Mat
The meaning: "Red is a classic sex symbol. But when you wear
red lipstick, a woman is telling the world she’s a confident, sexy individual. She’s timeless and classic," says Carreiro.

Designer inspiration: Massimo Rebecchi Fall 2013
Lipstick to try: Smashbox Be Legendary Lipstick in Legendary
The meaning: "Deeper than red, purple is cooler than red…a little more…well, mysterious. It says a woman has depth. What you see isn’t all you get," says Carreiro.

Designer inspiration: Diane von Furstenburg Fall 2013
Lipstick to try: Almay Color + Care Liquid Lip Balm in Pink Pout
The meaning: "Universally pink stands for female.
Pink lipstick says soft and feminine like no other colour. She loves being a girl," says Carreiro.

A NUDE LIP COLOUR
Designer inspiration: Alexander Wang Fall 2013
Lipstick to try: Burberry Lip Mist in Cinnamon No. 1
The meaning: "Nude, not being a ‘colour,’ requires no mirror for application nor constant touch ups. A
nude lip on its own says she’s sporty and a bit androgynous. When she pairs it with a
bold smoky eye, she becomes smouldering and sexy," says Carreiro.

Designer inspiration: Oscar de la Renta Fall 2013
Lipstick to try: Benefit Cha Cha Lip and Cheek Tint
The meaning: "Because orange is bright, bouncy and full of life and light, an orange lip colour says she’s vivacious and whimsical. She follows the beat of her own drum and isn’t afraid to stand out in a crowd," says Carreiro.
OVER TO YOU! What lip colour do you use most? Which runway beauty look is your favourite? Do you prefer lipstick or gloss?
