TIFF 2014 best dressed: Jessica Chastain and Roberta Armani lead the pack at Films of City Frames party
When Giorgio Armani comes to town, the famed Italian brand is guaranteed to make a splash. On Saturday night, Armani took over TIFF with a major party at the CN Tower, complete with a 300-foot black red carpet and an A-list crowd that included
Jessica Chastain looking amazing (
as always) in a short, sparkly LBD. The most stylish celebrity of the night? Roberta Armani, the niece of the great designer and the brand’s director of public relations, who posed with all the stars, including Chloë Grace Moretz and an absolutely adorable Quvenzhané Wallis. You really have to see it.

Quvenzhané Wallis and Roberta Armani. Amazing, right?
Roberta Armani was in Toronto as part of Films of City Frames, an incredible project celebrating emerging film talent around the world. Earlier in the day, Armani joined Oscar-winning director Edward Zwick at the Jane Mallett Theatre to host a screening of six stylish short films made by young filmmakers in New York, London, Paris, Hong Kong, Rome and Los Angeles.
Edward Zwick and Roberta Armani. Yes, those are shorts, and yes, they’re incredible.
The filmmakers’ challenge: to create a
fashion film that captured the essence of their respective city, as well as the elegant DNA of the Armani brand. (Our favourite was the London film, which featured a meet-cute in a flower shop and a surprise meet-next during a life drawing class.) After the screening, Zwick joined the filmmakers onstage for a Q&A and live mentoring session. His top advice for aspiring directors? Read books. "Too often, movies just reference other movies, instead of the rich treasure of stories and ideas that are available in history, philosophy and novels," Zwick said to loud applause.
