6 of 2024’s Biggest Summer Shoe Trends
Patent pumps, elegant flats, easy loafers and so much more.
by : Ishtar Yousif- Apr 24th, 2024
Shoes are the ultimate eye candy and TBH, we can’t get enough no matter how many pairs we’ve acquired over the years. Now that we’re putting more effort into our warm weather wardrobe, we’re also making sure we have the right footwear to finish off our outfits. It’s time we hone into all the trends and can’t-miss styles that have come in fresh off the runways.
Read ahead for 6 of the biggest 2024 summer shoe trends and where to shop them.
The Minimalist flat
If there’s a shoe that defines this summer, the minimalist glove flat would be it. Now that the ballerina flat has cemented its spot as fashion’s latest “it” shoe, different lightweight variations are making their way through in delicate textures like mesh and silk. If you’ve been lusting over a pair from Alaïa or The Row, don’t fret-there’s a bunch of look-a-likes on the market this season and the options are endless. Wear with a breezy dress, cargo skirts or tailored flood leg trousers for a refined and seamless look.
Shop the look:
The Relaxed Loafer
This ever-evolving classic serves as a timeless mainstay for all seasons. As we embrace a more relaxed way of dressing, the beloved loafer follows suit. We are seeing more laid-back options and twists to the look, making it easy to elevate day time outfits with ease. Our favourite way to style them this summer? Perhaps with a Canadian tuxedo or mini skirt and a coloured sock of your choice. One thing’s for sure, we’re trying to get into the habit of swapping sneakers for loafers: it’s effortlessly chic without compromising on function.
The Patent Leather Pump
Ever since Gucci unveiled its Spring 2024 collection, high shine patent leather pumps have resurged in popularity, climbing right back to the top of our wishlist. Ultra-pointed and kitten-heeled versions will be hard to overlook, especially in burgundy—the season’s hottest colour. Style a pair of patent leather pointy-toe slingbacks with black sheer knee-highs and leather shorts for something that’s bold and exudes confidence.
The Almond Pumps
This ’80s-inspired silhouette adds a touch of elegance while elongating the legs. We adore a brown leather low-heeled version to wear with denim for a day-to-night look. If you have an upcoming Euro trip on the horizon, consider a metallic pair to go with a crisp white waistcoat and trouser set.
Shop the look:
The Fashion Sneaker
Cooler-than-cool sneakers that come in all colours, shapes, and forms are everywhere right now, welcoming a new era of fashion forward kicks that elevate rather than dress down an outfit. One style in particular has taken centre stage: the 1970’s vintage-inspired marathon trainer. Think Miu Miu’s latest collaboration with New Balance, or Dries Van Noten’s low-top metallic and suede sneakers with rubber soles.
Exposed Toes
Yes, toe cleavage is a thing now. This summer, we’re showing a bit of toe and we’re doing it in the most stylish and cheeky way possible. Sportsmax and Victoria Beckham did an amazing job constructing the most flattering, stand-out knee high leather boots with peep-toes that quite literally left an imprint on the fashion world. We love the idea of styling a pair with jorts once the temperatures start rising.
