It’s been a long-time tradition: cowboys and cowgirls from across the country strap on their favourite boots and hats and head to the grounds for the greatest outdoor show on earth. But here’s the question: how do you (as a visitor) dress for the
Calgary Stampede? We caught up with Phaedra Godchild, Calgarian stylist at the Stampede style headquarters, The CORE (TD Square/Holt Renfrew), for a full rundown of the
dos and don’ts of rodeo-dressing.
Do: "My number one tip is to dress for your style. Think about incorporating your personal style and pieces into your rodeo wardrobe."

Don’t: "Don’t try head-to-toe cowboy. It usually ends up looking too much like a costume."
Do: "Balance your outfit. If you’re going to wear a long sleeve, you can pair with a skirt of shorts, but don’t go short all over. Crop tops and short shorts are not appropriate."
Do: "Incorporate the season’s trends. You’ll always look stylish wearing the most current colours."
