We’d anticipated we would get a Kristen Stewart sighting yesterday, though we had placed our bets on it being an arrival at Le Grand Palais for Chanel’s AW24 show. Instead, the actor and long-time ambassador of the house was promoting her newest film project, Love Lies Bleeding, in Los Angeles.

It was out with the tweed suits, shorts and toe-capped knee-high boots that we think of when we think of Stewart’s sartorial spins in Chanel, and instead in with a riskier, more daring ensemble that revealed a whole new fashion narrative for the 33-year-old.

On the red carpet, Stewart opted for a high-cut bodysuit by Bettter, a Ukranian-founded brand that uses upcycled materials for a modern taking on suiting, which she wore with a blazer worn intentionally falling off the shoulders with a flash of white across the turned-up cuffs. Stewart didn’t completely forget her loyalty to Chanel, however. The actor completed the look with classic pointed heels by the Parisian house.

It’s safe to say this was not a safe look. Stewart hinted that she might be willing to move into a bolder sartorial direction for the year ahead. While we might not be quick to emulate this exact formation, we’re here for those breaking out of the box and doing away with playing it safe on the red carpet.
