Alessandro Michele is Gucci’s new Creative Director!
Get excited, friends! Alessandro Michele has just been revealed as the newly appointed Creative Director of Gucci. Michele succeeds Frida Giannini as head of the iconic fashion house. He’ll be responsible for all of Gucci’s creative processes, from
runway shows (we’ll be there!) to the line’s international image. You’ll see him next on the runway post-show for his premiere
womenswear runway collection at Milan Fashion Week Fall 2015.
Check out five things you need to know about Alessandro Michele after the jump…
1. Alessandro Michele has been with Gucci for more than 12 years, working as the brand’s Leather Goods Design Director and Associate to previous Creative Director Frida Giannini. 2. The 42-year-old has also worked for Fendi, Tom Ford and porcelain brand Richard Ginori – a nod to his love of interior design. (Is there anything Michele can’t do?) 3. Michele debuted his first ever collection for Gucci during his Fall 2015 menswear runway show. The collection was well-received for its ultra modern design direction. 4. Michele studied at the Academy of Costume & Fashion in Rome (read: he knows his stuff). 5. In the press release announcing Michele’s new role, Marco Bizzarri, President and CEO of Gucci, said: “After a considered and thorough selection process, Alessandro Michele has been chosen to assume the role as Gucci Creative Director, based upon the contemporary vision he has articulated for the brand that he will now bring to life."
