If the Oscars red carpet is all about pomp and circumstance, then the after-party is where A-listers go to parade their most unabashedly fashion-forward ensembles.
An invitation to the Vanity Fair Oscar Party, where the most stylish stars flock after the show, means you’d better dress to impress. And that they did. At Sunday evening’s 2024 Vanity Fair Oscar Party, the best looks were sheer, form-fitted and body-baring with subtle nods to Old Hollywood. Kendall Jenner, Vanessa Hudgens and Issa Rae redefined the little black dress. Margot Robbie, Greta Lee and Gabrielle Union went the metallic route. And Kim Kardashian, Emily Ratajkowki and Aurora James wore sculptural works of art.
Ahead, all the details on the best-dressed stars at the 2024 Vanity Fair Oscar Party and what they wore.
Kendall Jenner in Maison Margiela
Kendall Jenner flaunted her modelesque frame in a lacy black number hot off the Maison Margiela Spring Summer 2024 Couture runway. Paired with a classic red lip, she was a vision of classic beauty.
Margot Robbie in Vintage Mugler
Bidding her Barbie era goodbye, Margot Robbie exchanged her all-pink wardrobe for a gilded Thierry Mugler corset and a bronze coat. Featuring a bedazzled fringe, the vintage corset was pulled from the Thierry Mugler Spring Summer 1996 collection.
Emily Ratajkowski in Jacquemus
Emily Ratajkowski dared to bare it (almost) all in a statuesque bridal gown by Jacquemus from the brand’s Spring Summer 2023 Ready-to-Wear collection. Coupled with soft glam and slightly tousled hair, this look was seriously sexy.
Vanessa Hudgens in Alberta Ferretti
After making a surprise pregnancy announcement on the Oscars red carpet earlier in the evening, soon-to-be mama Vanessa Hudgens arrived at the Vanity Fair Oscar Party wearing a sheer gown by Alberta Ferretti that defied traditional maternity dressing rules. With mermaid-esque curls hanging down her back, she looked simply ethereal.
Sydney Sweeney in Marc Bouwer
20 years after Angelina Jolie wore a silky plunging gown by Marc Bouwer to the Oscars, Sydney Sweeney borrowed the *exact* dress for her Vanity Fair Oscar Party look. The Anyone but You actress opted for a high-shine bob and a neck full of Messika jewels to complete her take on this classic Hollywood ensemble.
Issa Rae in Valdrin Sahiti
Issa Rae (forever President Barbie in our hearts) walked the red carpet wearing a strapless, velvet black Valdrin Sahiti gown adorned with a structural bow. Now this is how you modernize the little black dress.
Becky G in David Koma
After performing “The Fire Inside,” from the film Burnin’ Hot on the Oscars stage, Becky G wore a two-piece silk skirt and bralette combo by David Koma to the after party. Both her bralette and half-up-half-down hair were tied off with a chic black bow.
Gabrielle Union in Zuhair Murad
Gabrielle Union dazzled in this backless, high-neck gown by Zuhair Murad from the brand’s Couture Spring Summer 2024 Couture Collection. Embellished with draped beading and crystals galore, it gave total goddess glamour.
Kim Kardashian in Balenciaga
Dressed in Balenciaga, Kim Kardashian stunned on the red carpet in this form-flattering, off-white number fresh from the runway, where it first appeared in black. To complement the dress’ dramatic spiked shoulder, Kardashian went with a swooped bang that fell elegantly over one eye.
Aurora James
Looking like the Oscar Statuette brought to life, Canadian fashion icon Aurora James shone in a figure-hugging golden dress. No doubt a nod to Old Hollywood, her hair was swept to the side and curled for dramatic effect.
Lizzo in Robert Wun
Lizzo looked positively regal in this bronze ruched mini dress and cape designed by Robert Wun. Paired with chocolate-coloured pumps, the look was a masterclass in monochromatic dressing.
Iris Law
Channelling the 1920s, it-girl Iris Law arrived at the after-party wearing a semi-see-through draped dress paired with matching silver heels. Taking the silver theme up to her glam, her eyelids were painted with frosty silver eyeshadow that couldn’t be missed.
Kylie Jenner in Ludovic de Saint Sernin
Joining sisters Kendall and Kim, Kylie Jenner opted for an as-seen-on-the-runway gown—this time designed by Ludovic de Saint Sernin. This rouge metal mesh dress marks the brand’s first-ever appearance at the Vanity Fair Oscar Party.
Greta Lee in Loewe
An exemplary vision of minimalist chic, Greta Lee donned a slinky custom Loewe number. The Past Lives actress also wore the Spanish label to the main event, proving these two are a match made in red carpet heaven.
Jodie Turner-Smith in Gucci
Jodie Turner-Smith turned heads in a custom black, skin-baring Gucci gown. With its deep V-cut neckline and leg-bearing slit, it’s the ultimate revenge dress.
