Beauty bars and clinics are great when speed and efficiency are the top priorities. But a great hotel spa is truly unrivaled when you’re in the mood for an indulgent, leisurely experience in the city.

Offering treatments ranging from traditional RMT massages to high-tech facials, the top hotel spas are also calming, amenity-rich sanctuaries designed to feel like a little escape from everyday stressors.

Here are five of our favourites spots to get pampered in Toronto.

Spa at Four Seasons Toronto

The centrally-located, elegant Spa at Four Seasons Toronto offers everything you might need for an indulgent spa day, whether you’re booked in for a relaxing aromatherapy massage or hydrating body wrap.

There are monthly specials as well as discounted rates for some services on weekdays, and with any treatment over $185, you’ll have access to the hotel’s beautiful indoor pool, hot tub, lounge areas and steam rooms. During the summer months, you can relax on the outdoor terrace solo or with friends, and order bento boxes, salads and more from the Cloud 9 Oasis Menu.

Finally, if you’re looking for a unique experience, the recently launched Wellness & Bio Bar at the spa offers hypnosis sessions and tarot card readings as well as high-tech treatments featuring technologies like LPG Endermologie mechanical stimulation and Celluma Light Therapy.

Guerlain Spa

The first Guerlain Spa in Canada, which opened in late 2019, just before the pandemic, is a must-visit for skincare enthusiasts. Set on the fourth floor of Hotel X Toronto and boasting pretty views of Lake Ontario, the modern spa includes 10 treatment rooms, a Guerlain boutique and a beauty studio. Decadent treatments like the Imperial Relaxing Massage and Honey Repair Treatment incorporate products from luxe Guerlain ranges like Orchidée Impériale and Abeille Royale.

There are steam rooms for guests, and you can sit in a massage chair and enjoy a complimentary sweet treat and cup of tea or glass of Prosecco in the light-filled lounge pre- or post-treatment. For an additional cost, spa visitors can also spend a few hours at the hotel’s indoor-outdoor rooftop pool, which offers gorgeous views of the Toronto skyline.

The surprisingly capacious Spa myBlend—which updated its product and service offerings last fall—seems made for a fun spa date with your partner or best friends.

The 23,000-square-foot space includes a co-ed, sun-filled lounge area with ample seating, a robust food and drink menu, and complimentary hot and cold beverages and small snacks. In the women’s change room, there is a two-person hot tub, sauna, steam room and even a reading-friendly Ladies Lounge that’s kitted out with cozy blankets and massage loungers. Plus, when you book a service that’s 60 minutes or longer, you’ll have access to The Ritz-Carlton, Toronto’s lap pool and high-tech fitness centre during your visit.

The spa’s signature treatment, the customizable myBlend facial, is available in 30, 60 and 90-minute iterations and incorporates state-of-the-art devices like this neck-and-face MYLED mask.

Miraj Hammam Spa

Popular with couples, the downtown Miraj Hammam Spa offers unique treatments like a Turkish Bath Ritual and a Hammam and Grommage exfoliation treatment, done in a private, high-intensity steam chamber.

If you’re not looking for a body treatment, the spa’s results-oriented Biologique Recherche facials are another must-try. The Glow Facial, for example, includes a personalized skin assessment, careful application of at least a dozen active skincare products to address any concerns, a Cryo Stick massage and much more—in other words, you’ll leave glowing.

After your appointment, reserve some time to enjoy sweets and Moroccan teas in the lounge, which includes an outdoor patio during the summer months. Then, if you want to stay in relaxation mode longer, head to the Shangri-La Hotel Health Club, which includes a lap pool, sauna and steam room. Access is complimentary when you book a spa treatment that’s 75 minutes or longer.

Stillwater Spa

Truly a Toronto institution, the iconic Stillwater Spa underwent a major, multi-year reno and just reopened in June 2022. Located on the lower level of the Park Hyatt Toronto, this luxurious spa includes a sauna and aromatic steam room, and you’ll want to set aside time to linger in the co-ed lounge area, where a delicious selection of drinks and sweets is on offer for guests.

There are massages, facials, nail and grooming services on offer, but the signature treatments at the Stillwater Spa are the 60-minute body rituals: rose indulgence, detox and revive, and ultimate aromatherapy.
