It looks like we’ll be seeing Meryl Streep at TIFF this year.

The iconic actor, who most recently was seen on Big Little Lies, is receiving the inaugural TIFF Tribute Acting Award. Streep will be honoured at the fest’s annual fundraiser gala on September 9.

“Meryl Streep is undoubtedly one of the most talented and versatile actors of her generation,” said TIFF co-head Joana Vicente in a press release. “She has portrayed characters that are as compelling as they are timeless. TIFF could not be more thrilled to honour such a skilled and exemplary artist.”

It’s fitting, of course, that it’s Streep who will be getting TIFF’s first acting honour. She has more Oscar nominations than any other actor in history (currently with a total of 21) and has won the award three times: for her roles in The Iron LadySophie’s Choice and Kramer vs. Kramer.

Her next role is in Steven Soderbergh’s The Laundromat, about the Panama Papers, which will have its North American Premiere at TIFF.
