Join the pony parade: How to get the season’s best tail
This image and post should be viewed while listening to some form of ‘take your bags and leave/in fact, don’t bother, I’ll go and you can watch me walk away. Swish this, homie‘ Beyonce-type summer anthem. Photo by Liuda Hara for Moroccanoil. Hair by Orlando Pita of Orlo Salon
Ponytails rule. Let’s face it – we’re all already making them (the ponytail "trend" is really just a "ponytail, obviously" situation), and the
catwalks keep on churning out great updates to classic staples. So it’s silly not to keep tweaking the different styles you’ve got in your
hair style arsenal. Take this beauty from the Carolina Herrera Spring Summer 2012 show, created by my man,
Orlando Pita. It’s an elegant, looped tail wrapped at the nape of the neck, and it would look as great in the office this summer as it would out for drinks and a flirt on a patio later that evening. (Hopefully it’s a patio blasting "Run The World".) Here’s Orlando’s hair tips on how to create the perfect summer ponytail:
“I used Moroccanoil Light, one of my favorite products, on the models before starting to style, especially on those who had damaged or fragile hair from their various shows. It absorbs right in and transforms it instantly. I then applied Moroccanoil Hydrating Styling Cream on dampened hair for a smooth soft hold, then
blow-dried it straight. Next, I parted the hair in the middle and pulled it into a low ponytail at the nape of the neck. The hair was teased a bit to make it look fuller, especially on the models who had fine hair. The teased length of the ponytail was looped onto an elastic in a circulate fold, shaped into a triangle, and a section of hair wrapped around the elastic to finish. I secured everything with hairpins and sprayed the entire style with Moroccanoil Luminous Hairspray."
