5 red-carpet worthy beauty looks for the Oscars
In case you haven’t heard, the Oscars are THIS Sunday (but you obviously knew that, right?). In just two days, this year’s most popular A-list celebrities will be walking the red carpet of
Hollywood’s biggest night. Yes, the photogs will be zooming in and snapping away at each star’s beauty hits and misses (hey,
Jennifer Lawrence!), but just because you’re not at the event doesn’t mean you can’t rock your own golden moment at home. No doubt you’re getting together with friends to watch the program live—and you’re looking for hair and makeup inspiration that will fit the bill. I personally guarantee that if you wear one of these celebrity-approved,
red carpet-worthy beauty looks on the eve of March 2
nd, you’ll own the most talked about look of the night.
Runway inspiration: DSquared2 Spring 2014 (above)
Why we love it: Get a jump start on your spring beauty regime with a
bright orange lip (
the colour of the moment). Do as the celebs do and highlight just one feature—in this case, the lip is the focal point while the light
smoky eye and voluminous lashes are the backdrop.

Runway inspiration: Jason Wu Spring 2014
Why we love it:
Gold eye shadow for the Academy Awards? That’s a given! Layer on a
smudge-proof primer and dust on the gold from your inner eye all the way up to your crease with lots of mascara. As opposed to DSquared2’s look, your eyes should be the center of attention here (not the lips) with just a clear gloss and bronzer to tie the entire look together.
Runway inspiration: Marchesa Spring 2014
Why we love it: If you were to actually wear this look on the red carpet (we can dream, can’t we?), the paps would be in a mad frenzy to get a shot of this amazing iridescent lip. Gucci Westman used three different purple lipsticks and an eyeshadow to get the gothic, glowing look. There’s also something to be said for the feather-y head piece–we could actually see Cate Blanchett giving it a try.
Runway inspiration: Dries Van Noten Spring 2014
Why we love it: Gold flecks for eyes and hair—enough said. Makeup Forever’s Glitter Pots can be used to get this glamorous look. Wet a makeup brush and speckle the glitter through your part and onto lashes with a dash of
lengthening mascara. (This look is your wow factor for the evening.)
Runway inspiration: Tory Burch Spring 2014
Why we love it: Who says you have to go all out for an Oscar party? Sometimes a minimalist,
barely-there look makes just as big an impact as a full face of makeup. Go for a blowout on Sunday morning and apply a nude lip and
black eyeliner right before the event so you can focus on the acceptance speeches, not your makeup.
