Postcard from … Greta Constantine
We’re excited to announce the launch of a new series, in which Canadian fashion personalities send us stylish dispatches from around the globe. This week: The Greta Constantine team—designers Stephen Wong and Kirk Pickersgill and communications manager Jesse Greene—reports from Paris, where they have set up an apartment/showroom to display their fall/winter 2012 collection, which they’ll unveil in Toronto on March 9.
Dear, er, chère ELLE Canada,
We’re thrilled to finally be in
Paris, the City of Light! It doesn’t feel too far from home, especially since we flew in with a group of Canadians including Jeanne Beker and The Bay’s Suzanne Timmins . Somewhere between watching
My Week with Marilyn and
In Time, we caught up on some much needed rest. The moment we landed, we hit the ground running. With a long to-do list in preparation for tomorrow’s appointments, we scouted our surroundings. The Galeries Lafayette and Printemps are only a few blocks away, and we spotted Arizona Muse—with short dark hair!— casually walking around in sweatpants and with a shopping bag in tow.
After our model sighting, we prepared for a brief casting for the next few days of appointments. With our apartment-turned-showroom in order, we took the evening to
adventure through Paris. Somewhere between Les Halles and the Pompidou Centre, our assistant stylist discovered that wearing 6-inch wedges since we left Toronto wasn’t the best of ideas (cobblestones in Le Marais promised their demise). She settled for Converse—and they never felt so good.
The night wasn’t over. We returned to the Opéra district for dinner, and after some late night escargots and croque madames, the clock struck 12 and we realized that we locked ourselves out of our studio apartment.
À bientôt, The Gretas
