Dior Brought Couture Back to the Atelier

Dior's couture show was set in a bright room where looks from the show made of white cotton were displayed from floor to ceiling, in Paris's Musée Rodin. The design was in reference to the atelier, keeping along with the theme of the collection which focused on classic, well-constructed pieces to highlight the craftsmanship of couture.

New Chanel ambassador Penélope Cruz sat front row

Actress Penélope Cruz embraced her latest role as Chanel's new brand ambassador by sitting front row at the fashion house's outdoor show at the Institut de France. Cruz will be starring in the brand's cruise campaign, shot by Karl Lagerfeld.

Schiaparelli Went Maximalist

Schiaparelli showed a number of larger-than-life looks inspired by the house’s founder, Elsa Schiaparelli. Design director Bertrand Guyon lit up the grand Opéra Garnier in hot pink and put equally bold looks down the runway, like this sheer embroidered tulle dress with a complementary floral bouquet helmet.

Iris van Herpen Played with Time

Iris van Herpen once again merges biology with technology in her latest collection entitled, Syntopia, taking cues from the lines of a bird's wing movements and slowing it down. This relationship is also explored in the set design which featured a blacked-out runway with a kinetic sculpture suspended above the models. Amsterdam-based artists Lonneke Gordijn and Ralph Nauta of Studio Drift created the installation of glass bars to slowly simulate the movement of wings.

Adut Akech Closed Chanel

Sundanese model Adut Akech Bior was chosen to model the bridal look shown as the finale at every Chanel couture show — this year an unconventional but chic sea green tweed skirt and jacket embellished with sequins. Bior is also the second Black model ever to close out the fashion house's couture show.
