The five moments that made my day….
The time I accidentally met Solange…
I arrived for Rosie Assoulin’s show with three minutes to spare. I wasn’t the only one running late. Turns out Solange was also cutting it tight. She was wearing a pink car coat and her makeup was gorgeous. #luminous. She smiled, said ‘Hi” and headed off to her front-row seat. I’m part of her squad now, right?
Rosie Assoulin has a different take on throwing a pool party!
After walking through locker rooms at a downtown recreation centre, we were seated beside an empty pool that was filled with models wearing long flowy dresses. Assoulin’s intellectual yet cheeky approach is the secret to her highly wearable fashion. From menswear-inspired pieces to sequined bikini tops this collection was street-chic at its best.
Tanya Taylor has reinvented the garden
Taylor had me with her hashtag #disruptwithcolour. The Canadian-born designer went off in a totally new direction this season. There were flashes of gingham, subtle florals and thick, bright stripes cast against shades of white, navy and neon green. Dainty flowers were encased in the translucent heels of her shoes. Talk about literally putting a spring in your step.
Dover Street Market is THE place for exclusivity this NYFW
Want to feel like a true fashion insider? Sure, you probably have a coveted Givenchy ticket, but those in the know are also heading to Dover Street Market New York to hunt down exclusive labels. Case in point: the launch of Gucci’s cruise collection. (It’s the only shop outside of Gucci to house the 2016 sensation.) You’ll also find permanent collections of Azzedine Alaïa, Commes des Garçons and Junya Watanabe.
