The job of a celebrity stylist is more complex than the layman could possibly anticipate. The task is not simply sourcing the right outfit for red carpet events or pairing the right bag with the right shoes.

Rather, it’s an artform of personal branding and image control. Style has the power to make or break reputations, such is its stranglehold on our perceptions of any given star.

Given the particularly visual way we communicate these days (thank you, Instagram), fashion has become a form of entertainment, with style-gazers gobbling up red carpets and street style with almost rabid enthusiasm. A star’s style can also translate into popularity on social media and, for some, this can influence who gets roles, who gets designer ambassadorships, and whose side hustle makes money.

So, whether trying to revamp an actress’ image, grow an entrepreneur’s subscriber base, or get the world talking about a particular movie – 2023 has proven that a good stylist is a crucial cog in the celebrity machine.
