What Kate Middleton Wore: Outback Edition
For the royal visit to Australia’s red centre,
Kate Middleton and Prince William went for a muted palette we’re going to call ‘outback chic’ (the alternative being to call it ‘boring beige’).
The Cambridge Traveling Circus landed at Uluru yesterday, the iconic Aussie landmark formerly known as Ayer’s Rock. We’ll gloss over Will’s unflattering head-to-toe olive green ensemble, and get straight to Kate’s putty-gray dress by Roksanda Ilincic…which truthfully, was also a bit of a ‘yawn’. It’s basically the same dress as a lilac number she wore back on the US tour in 2011, and while chic, felt a little bit of an off choice.
Costume change number two was into
an old Kate favourite, a linen Hobbs dress, first debuted last year, that made more sense for the area’s heat (seriously, that place is HOT), but again, beige. I’m assuming there’s an acid green dress on the schedule soon, and they’re giving us a visual break between that and the electric ‘banana dress’ of last week. I hope.
