I am so incredibly honoured to be taking on the exciting position of editor-in-chief of ELLE Canada. It’s a magazine I’ve always read and one I never imagined I’d help lead. I am not alone in this endeavour by any means, though, and am fully supported by a team of amazing, talented women, not to mention my invaluable copy editor and proofreader as well as wonderful contributors from across the country. And, of course, there’s the guidance and confidence of our publisher, Sophie Banford, without whom I could not do this job. I hope they all know how much they mean to this magazine and to me personally. Together, we are a force.

That’s why this empowerment issue is a very special one. Whether it’s through setting personal boundaries, breaking barriers, taking control, speaking up or expressing one’s creativity through various mediums, we explore how people across all industries are embracing—and projecting—strength and confidence.

For me, empowerment is about helping uplift those around me, and I am privileged to be part of a platform that has the ability to do exactly that. I hope that what you find within our pages—in not only this issue but every one—supports that intention. This is a job that’s a collaboration with many hands and many voices, and together I hope we create work that is powerful and impactful for our readers.
