The Nominees for the 2019 SAG Awards Are Here
The SAG Awards are the latest round of nominations to be revealed this week.
Musical romantic drama A Star Is Born scored four nominations—the most of any movie this year—including best actress for Lady Gaga, best actor for Bradley Cooper, best supporting actor for Sam Elliott and best ensemble. Historical comedy-drama The Favourite and Spike Lee’s BlacKkKlansman follow closely behind with three nods each. Both A Star Is Born and BlacKkKlansman will vie for the best ensemble award alongside Crazy Rich Asians, Black Panther and Queen biopic Bohemian Rhapsody.
The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel and crime drama Ozark lead the pack on the TV side of the nominations with four nods each. Maisel, Atlanta, GLOW, HBO’s dark-comedy Barry and new Netflix offering The Kominsky Method are all vying for best comedy series ensemble, while The Americans, Better Call Saul, Ozark, This Is Us and The Handmaid’s Tale earned honours in the dramatic ensemble category. Canadian (and upcoming Golden Globes co-host!) Sandra Oh earned another nod for her Killing Eve role, for outstanding performance by an actress in a drama.
Also noteworthy: three actors earned two nominations for different solo acting performances. Emma Stone received nods for her supporting role in The Favourite and her lead role on twisty Netflix miniseries Maniac; Amy Adams earned nods for her leading role in psychological thriller Sharp Objects and her supporting role in upcoming Dick Cheney biopic Vice; and Emily Blunt was nominated for her supporting role in horror flick A Quiet Place and her turn in Mary Poppins Returns.
The 25th annual SAG Awards air on January 27. You can take a look at the full list of nominees here.
