The press tour for the much-anticipated Barbie film is already underway, with stars Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling opting for some very doll-friendly outfits in Barbie’s signature hue. But now, there’s an even better way to mark the film’s release on July 21 – by staying in a life-sized version of the Barbie Dreamhouse, courtesy of Airbnb.

“While everyone’s favourite doll makes her live-action film debut, Ken is handing over the keys and hosting an overnight stay in the newly renovated and iconic Malibu Dreamhouse,” says the homes rental company.

 

Where is the Barbie Dreamhouse?

Located in sunny Malibu, the oceanfront mansion has everything you’d expect of a plastic-fantastic paradise: think an outdoor disco floor, an infinity pool (complete with a slide from the upper floor of the house), a shell-pink bed, a workout area and plenty of opportunities to try Ken’s favourite pastimes, from surfing to roller-skating.

“We all have dreams, and Barbie is lucky enough to have a house full of them,” says Ken (through his chosen rental company, Airbnb). “But now, it’s my turn, and I can’t wait to host guests inside these one-of-a-kind – dare I say, one-of-a-Ken? – digs.”

If you’re lucky enough to be chosen to stay at the Dreamhouse, you’ll be able to rifle through Ken’s impressive closet (there are plenty of line-dancing outfits to try) and play sunset serenades on Ken’s guitar. What’s more, you’ll take home a piece of the “Kendom” when you leave: your very own set of pink-and-yellow Impala rollerblades and surfboards.

How can I stay there?

Perhaps best of all, the experience is completely free. “All stays will be free of charge – because Ken couldn’t figure out how to put a price on Barbie’s Malibu Dreamhouse – after all, Ken’s thing is beach, not math,” says Airbnb. Fans will be able to request to book into the Dreamhouse for two individual, one-night stays for up to two guests each on July 21 and July 22 – and you can put in your request on the July 17. All that’s left to do is keep your pink-manicured fingers crossed that you score a spot.

The Barbie film is already set to be the cinematic event of the year, but there are plenty of other on-screen locations you can stay at, from those featured on Succession to The White Lotus.
