The man who was briefly the World’s Most Talked About Mayor has died after a battle with cancer.

Rob Ford—who was at the centre of a global media circus during his controversial tenure as Toronto’s mayor—passed away at the age of 46 in a Toronto hospital.

Ford abandoned his bid for re-election in 2014 following a diagnosis with a rare cancer called pleomorphic sarcoma, but was still a councillor when he died.

Ford leaves a wife, two young children, and a place in the history books of Canadian government.
