MILEY CYRUS
Miley Cyrus performed a stripped down version of her new single “Slide Away” (which is like, pretty much for sure about her split with Liam Hemsworth) and looked really, really good doing it in slick hair, glossy silver eyeshadow and lots of mascara, courtesy of makeup genius James Kaliardos.
LIZZO
Lizzo, in general, brings me joy. The sparkly yellow eyeshadow she wore during her performance increases my overall joyfulness by at least 20%.
TAYLOR SWIFT
T-Swift stuck with her classic shaggy blonde hair and red lipstick (although, to be accurate, this is more of an orange-y red). If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.
SHAWN MENDES
Confused as to why this gently tousled hair didn’t win its own award last night. Maybe next year.
H.E.R.
I watched the VMAs live, and did not notice this snake accessory on TV until my friend pointed it out. Too busy looking at the A+ hair, dewy skin and perfectly rose-toned lip.
GIGI AND BELLA HADID
Strictly speaking of hair colour, Bella Hadid normally plays the Veronica to Gigi Hadid’s Betty, but both models showed up on the red carpet with similar blonde hair. Very rare.
ADRIANA LIMA
Adriana Lima pulls off everything. (Streaky mascara at the gym, would be my favourite ridiculous thing she looks good in.) At the VMAs, the former longtime Victoria’s Secret model pulled off wet-looking hair, dark nail polish and a sultry smokey eye.
ROSALÍA
This ponytail looked amazing on the red carpet, and even better on stage. Also, this is the perfect casual, not-too-considered placement of rhinestones.
