From the couch to the (red) carpet: My essentials for the CAFAs 2014

The CAFAs (Canadian Arts & Fashion Awards) premiered on Saturday with a veritable feast of Canadian talent hitting the red carpet to celebrate the best in the biz. I know it’s only February but this definitely stands out as one of the best industry gatherings of the year. Now, when one scores an invite to any party that will be chock full of 1. Fashion People 2. Fashion People With Cameras, you need to come correct. Here are my essentials for a big night out.
1. Frizz. It must be contained. I turned to
Marc Anthony Keratin Smoothing Blow Dry Cream to get the job done. If you want to promote the fantasy that your hair grows out of your head perfectly straight and smooth this will help you perpetuate that glorious lie.
2. I’m really excited about this new launch from
Stila: Magnificent Metals Foil Finish Eye Shadow. These metallic, wet to dry eye shadows just arrived in the ELLE offices and I road tested the Black Gold as part of my
Smoky Eye To End All Smoky Eyes motif for the evening.
3. At the
Bite Beauty was offering guests the opportunity to custom make their own lipsticks at a beauty bar. Although I prefer my bars to be stocked with booze, I went with this killer red lippy, which matches the CAFA colours. If you’re not familiar with Bite, they are a fantastic Canadian brand that editors are obsessed with. Their lipsticks are infused with the antioxidant resveratrol – which comes from red wine. Mmmm. Wine.
4. You can’t hit a party without a fab frock and this custom
DSquared2 gold dress (with built in corset!) was one of the most beautiful things I’ve ever worn. My go to party staple is usually a little black dress… but now I think gold may be my new statement colour. #MetallicsFTW Read more
