10 Jackets and Coats to Keep You Warm This Winter
From the ideal wool coat to the perfect puffer, here are 10 trendy winter coats that are essential to our wardrobe.
by : Marouchka Franjulien- Nov 12th, 2021
Like it or not, the cold season is fast approaching. The temperature is continuing to plummet and a white blanket of snow will soon cover sidewalks across the country until the first rays of spring. To step outside without fear of hypothermia and actually enjoy the snow, we need to invest in a winter coat that is warm, comfortable and technical (even if it means paying the price). We’ve found puffers, down jackets and trendy coats, to put on as soon as the first snow falls. Below, 10 essential winter coats that will last long to keep us warm for years to come.
The Alpine Winter Coat, Frank and Oak
With a shearling neckline and an exterior made from recycled polyester and organic cotton, this sustainably-made winter coat from Frank and Oak is a must-have! It also comes in a lush chocolate brown colour that looks ultra-cozy.
$369
Brooklyn Parka, Kanuk
Our favourite Kanuk down jacket uses 800-fill Canadian Hutterite White Duck insulation feathers that are ethically-sourced and will keep you warm in -25 degree weather. The jacket also comes in three shades—khaki, pink and glossy black—each more trendy than the next (which doesn’t make our choice any easier!)

Down 1996 Retro Nuptse Puffer Jacket, The North Face
The North Face’s iconic retro-style jacket, largely inspired by the brand’s cult jacket created in 1996, is the perfect puffer for winter. It comes in a variety of colours, and it’s cropped-style is chic. Wear it while running errands or on the ski slopes!
$360
Team Canada 22 Down Jacket, Lululemon

With a detachable hood, a detachable belt and a vibrant color (that stands out even in dull weather) this parka, which just brushes our calves and is heavily insulated, is the ideal coat for cold days.
$295
Rachela Knee-Length Sporty Down Coat, Soia & Kyo
Capable of withstanding temperatures down to -30 degrees, this knee-length coat has every weather resistant detail covered (from being water repellant to having polar-fleece lined pockets)—helping you face the extreme cold while still being stylish.

Fairbanks Puffer, Babaton
After the Super Puff was seen all over the internet and on the streets last winter, Aritzia’s in-house brand, Babaton, released a winter coat that promises to please the crowd of fashionistas—a fully-lined trench coat in a beautiful gray—which ensures that we’ll be warm and chic.

Freya Foil Shield Down Jacket, Mackage

Canadian brand Nobis offers us an incredibly warm coat (made to keep us toasty down to -20 degrees), with a muted floral pattern. While the pattern is discreet, it’s a welcome change from our chic yet classic black winter coat.
