Snow Patrol have already written their seventh studio album before releasing their sixth effort.

Singer Gary Lightbody and his bandmates are getting ready to bring out their latest LP ‘Fallen Empires’ – the follow-up to 2009’s ‘Up to Now’ – in November and he has revealed the last track on the record leads directly into the completed next effort.

He said: “We’ve already written the next album. The last track on ‘Fallen Empires’ is going to be called ‘Broken Bottles Form A Star (Prelude)’ and that will be the first song on the next album.”

The 35-year-old musician believes ‘Fallen Empires’ is the band’s “best” album yet, but admits it took a long time to record because he suffered from writer’s block during the process.

Gary added to UK station Radio 2: “It’s the longest album we’re ever made by far, but also the best. We took our time and I had some bouts of writer’s block. It’s the first time it’s happened for such a long time, I’ve had days when I haven’t been able to write.

“Since 2009 I’ve gone through three writer’s blocks. But I’m glad because the results are great afterwards. They have probably made me write better songs.”
