Biffy Clyro have 20 “absolutely awesome” songs ready for their next album.
‘The Captain’ rockers’ fifth album is well underway, with them already having written enough tracks and mapped out how it will sound.
Lead singer and guitarist Simon Neil said: “We’ve got about 20 songs for the next record that we’d like to lay down if we can just get over this touring lark.”
Bass player James Johnson added: “They’re sounding absolutely awesome!”
Simon then explained how the band create their tracks by creating them as a three piece and layering the instrumentation up from there.
He added: “Everything we do scale wise before we go into the studio is just guitar bass and drums then we work the songs up from there, decide what instrumentation to use when we make the record, but we know what kind of album we’re going to make, we know how it’s going to play out we know the structure of it, but it’s just a case of getting it does, so we’re chomping at the bit really.”
The band received the Kerrang! Classic Songwriter award at last night’s (09.06.11) 30 year anniversary Kerrang! Awards, and said receiving reassurance in their abilities is a good thing.
James said: “It just lovely when people like your songs. Everything we do, we do ourselves and there’s never any sort of outside judgement involved, so when people hear your music an like it gives us a good feeling.”
