It’s impossible to keep up with the hours and hours worth of shows and movies that premiere every week. Here, we highlight the new titles arriving on Netflix Canada this month to help you decide what to watch.

Blockbuster

I don’t think we need to dwell more on the obvious, much discussed irony of Netflix making a sitcom that follows the employees working at the very last Blockbuster Video location, which is exactly what Blockbuster is about. Instead, let’s focus on the truly delightful aspect of this series: It stars the always funny Randall Park (Fresh Off the Boat) and Melissa Fumero (Brooklyn Nine-Nine) as co-workers and potential love interests.

Enola Holmes 2

Millie Bobby Brown is back to break the fourth wall (and have way more fun that Eleven) as the spunky titular character of Enola Holmes 2. This time around, Enola has launched her own detective agency and has taken on her first official case—but she may need a little help from big bro Sherlock (Henry Cavill) to actually solve it.

The Crown (Season 5)

I have eagerly devoured every frame of The Crown up until this point, but let’s be honest—this is what viewers have been waiting for. Set in the ‘90s, season five of the  historical drama tracks (among other things) the contentious and very public divorce between Charles and Diana. We also have an entirely new cast of actors stepping into the famous roles: Elizabeth Debicki plays Princess Diana, Dominic West is Prince Charles, Jonathan Pryce is Prince Philip, Lesley Manville is Princess Margaret and Imelda Staunton portrays Queen Elizabeth II.

Falling for Christmas

Lindsay Lohan makes her eagerly anticipated return to acting in this (hopefully charming) holiday romcom. Falling for Christmas kicks off when a spoiled heiress (Lohan) loses her memory in a fluke skiing accident and, with no idea who she is or where she belongs, ends up staying with a rugged widower (Chord Overstreet) and his daughter. I bet you can guess what happens from there.

The Wonder

Florence Pugh has quickly established herself as an actor who I will watch in literally anything. Next up is The Wonder, an adaptation of Emma Donoghue’s novel of the same name, in which Pugh stars as an English nurse in 1862 who travels to a remote Irish village to investigate a young girl who mysteriously remains alive despite the fact that she has stopped eating. I’m sure that everything will be very normal and not at all unsettling.

1899

If you loved the trippy ride that was the sci-fi thriller Dark, then 1899 is for you. The multilingual period mystery comes from the same team behind Dark and is set aboard a ship that is sailing across the Atlantic Ocean. But then the ship unexpectedly comes across a second vessel floating adrift on the sea and the passengers’ journey takes a nightmarish turn.

Christmas With You

You didn’t think there would be just one holiday romcom for you this month, did you? Christmas With You follows mononymous pop star Angelina (Aimee Garcia) who, on the edge of career burnout, decides to surprise a young fan (Deja Monique Cruz) in small-town New York with a wish to meet her.  But while there, Angelina may also get a chance to find true love with her fan’s devoted father (Freddie Prinze Jr.).

Dead to Me (Season 3)

Christina Applegate and Linda Cardellini are a dream TV duo, which makes the news that the long delayed third season of Dead to Me will also be its last. If you don’t remember, when we last saw the dark comedy, the on-screen BFFs get into a car crash caused by a drunken Ben (James Marsden)—who also happens to be the twin brother of Judy’s (Cardellini) cruel (and dead) fiancé. Season three will have to deal with the fallout of that accident, plus all the secrets the pair have been struggling to keep.

Wednesday

If anyone was going to bring the Addams Family back to our screen, Tim Burton seems like the obvious choice. Wednesday focuses on the fam’s daughter (Jenna Ortega) as she starts school at the quirky Nevermore Academy. There, Wednesday must navigate adolescence and making friends—while also investigating a murder spree. Catherine Zeta-Jones plays family matriarch Morticia, Luis Guzmán is patriarch Gomez, Fred Armisen is Uncle Fester, Gwendoline Christie is school principal (and former foe of Morticia) Larissa Weems and Christina Ricci (who played Wednesday in the ‘90s) also has a mystery role in the series.
