On Friday afternoon I ventured to the Carlu to attend a wine tasting featuring vino’s from the South of France. It was a hard job, but somebody had to do it. France’s South West Wine Council was in town to educate Torontonians about the different grape varieties in the South of France—with proceeds raised by ticket sales going to the Canadian Cancer Society. Beautiful spreads of charcuterie and rich cheeses lined both sides of the room, with wine vendors holding court in the middle. I felt like a kid on Christmas day. Malbec? Yes please! Ooh, and I’ll try the Tannat (which had been aging for four years, seemingly awaiting my arrival).
