When it’s The Glenlivet you’re pouring, single malt whisky is made for more than just sipping and savouring. For this series, we tapped Rose Simard, ELLE’s Montreal-based resident mixologist, to create three exclusive single malt cocktails using The Glenlivet’s multi-faceted collection of spirits. Follow her ingenious (and easy-to-follow) recipes, and then drink up the good times.

However your NYE plans pan out – a dressed-up affair for just you and your bestie, perhaps, or a DJed Zoom gathering with 25 of your nearest and dearest – stir up a Blossom, a chic aperitif that gets all its elegance (and celebratory character) from three perfect ingredients: The Glenlivet Founder’s Reserve, elderflower liqueur and a couple of dashes of Angostura bitters. “My goal was to enhance the lovely pear and green-apple notes in the Scotch,” says Simard of the spirit’s fruit-forward palate.

The Blossom

2 oz The Glenlivet Founder’s Reserve
0.75 oz elderflower liqueur
2 dashes of Angostura bitter

1.Pour all three ingredients into a mixing glass filled with ice.
2.Stir to chill and slightly dilute.
3.Strain into a chilled coupette.
4.Twist a piece of grapefruit peel to release the oil over the cocktail, and then discard.
