Editor's Pick: Swarovski Hyacinth Ring, $260

The first time jewellery really mattered to me was in high school, when I burnished my multi-coloured gimp bracelets and gold "Be Fri" necklace with the glow of real love. In university, my jewellery—hemp necklaces and wood earrings—showcased a personality in flux, struggling to find her identity (and her Happy Hardcore CD. Yikes.). These days, I find myself drawn to gorgeous sparkly things: a statement necklace, cuff or ring, like this lovely Hyacinth ring from Swarovski. In addition to its range of delicate hues—violet, lilac, blue—it reminds me of  a few lines from my favourite poem, "The Wasteland" by T. S. Eliot:

"You gave me hyacinths first a year ago; They called me the hyacinth girl." —Yet when we came back, late, from the Hyacinth garden, Your arms full, and your hair wet, I could not Speak, and my eyes failed. I was neither Living nor dead, and I knew nothing, Looking into the heart of light, the silence."

Amazing, right? As for the ring, call it poetry of the sartorial sort.
