The biggest V-Day worry used to be securing a dinner reservation at the trendiest restaurant in town before February 14th, but in the middle of a global pandemic, dinner resos are just no longer an option.
The good news: just because we’re confined to our humble abodes, doesn’t mean this holiday is any less lovable. Whether you want to channel your inner child during board game night or to spice things up (in the kitchen, obviously), here are 10 Valentine’s date ideas you can do from the comfort of your home.
A Virtual Paint Night

Explore your creativity this Valentine’s Day and join in on a virtual paint class. Fresh Paint Studio’s virtual sessions give you step-by-step instructions to complete your own masterpiece. Not only do you get to choose the painting you and your Valentine will create, but you’ll also receive a paint night kit delivered right to your door; available across all of Canada. This kit includes a canvas, brushes, a paint palette, a sponge, paint tubes and so much more. Just grab your canvas and you’re ready to go – unless you’re dabbling in body paint, then no canvas necessary!
A Movie Marathon

Valentine’s Day – the one night of the year you can watch all your favourite rom-coms without any complaints from your better half! Whether you’re kicking it old school with My Best Friend’s Wedding (1997) or sticking to the 2010s and watching Always Be My Maybe (2019), grab the popcorn and settle in on the couch for a truly lovey-dovey night.
A Virtual Wine Tasting

Explore the 6th love language of the world this V-Day – wine. With Eight Kilos’ virtual wine tastings, you will explore the two classic regions of Burgundy and Piedmont. Or, you can even tailor your own session by choosing from different grape varieties or winemaking styles. You will receive a card explaining the taste and origin of your selected wines, as well as a wine tasting worksheet which you and your Valentine can score on taste and smell. With sommeliers comfortably speaking to beginners or even the most advanced wine enthusiast, this is a V-Day date everyone will enjoy. Cheers!
Travel the World (through different cuisines)

Who said Valentine’s Day had to be labour-intensive? Take a night off from the kitchen and make V-Day extra special by ordering in dishes from an array of cuisines. Let’s be honest, the best part of travelling is the food anyway, right? This is also the perfect opportunity to support your local restaurants while exploring different cultural foods. Everyone likes a smorgasbord of fun flavours!
A Virtual Cocktail Making Workshop

Channel your inner mixologist and shake up a few cocktails this V-Day. With Eating Through TO’s virtual cocktail making workshop, guests will learn how to make three different winter cocktails, featuring the alcoholic spirit LOT 40. The host Mackenzie Putici, a cocktail expert and sommelier, wanted to create cocktails that don’t require expensive liqueurs, premium bitters, or hard to find ingredients. He’s incorporated teas, juices, and even jam into the recipes and the delivered kits so that you can easily repeat these on your own. Perfect for a date night, or a fun night in with your bubble.
A Spa Night

Unwind together this Valentine’s with an at-home spa night. After the year we’ve had, we all deserve a night of nothing but pure relaxation. Grab the best candles you can find, face masks (we promise, even he will love them!), bubble bath and massage oil, and enjoy a night of pampering. Don’t forget to dim the lights and play some soft music – you know, to set the mood.
A Virtual Murder Mystery Party

We all love a good murder mystery movie or book, so why not join in on the real thing? Whether you’re celebrating this Valentine’s with a group of your girlfriends or even a few couples, The Murder Mystery Company offers a night of intrigue, mystery, murder and fun, all without leaving your house. With professional actors hosting the entire show and guiding you through the game, every aspect is planned, so you can relax and have fun solving a murder.
A Virtual Cooking Class

Heat things up in the kitchen this Valentine’s with The Chef Upstairs’ step-by-step virtual cooking class. The delicious menu features pan-seared scallops on fresh greens, truffle wild mushroom risotto, surf and turf with maple-glazed carrots and broccolini and chocolate dipped strawberries. The delivery will include all the ingredients required, measured and prepped plus a charcuterie board. This experience allows you to socialize and cook with fellow foodies, all from the comfort of your own home.
A Board Game Night

It’s officially time to pull out those old chess boards and game pieces and challenge your partner to the ultimate game night. To make it extra interesting, you can even set up a full-fledged competition with games of different skill levels, or make up your own games. A little competition never hurt anyone; so spend your Valentine’s Day crowning the game board champion.
A Fondue Night

There’s just something romantic about fondue, and it’s even more enjoyable from the comfort of your own bed! Milk, white or dark chocolate, it’s time to whip out that fondue pot and create a delicious dessert for two (or one) that’s perfect for Valentine’s Day. Get creative by including different fruits, cookies, or even marshmallows! Or if savoury is your thing, melt some cheese and dip your favourite veggies.
