This fall, cozy up to ’70s-meets-pioneer-woman knitwear. Opt for pieces with a patchwork of patterns and fabrics — from shearling to chiffon — and layer. If it looks like high-fashion DIY, that’s a good thing.

Leather

Fashion took itself far less seriously this fall. The exception to the rule? Leather — in notice-me shades of burgundy, navy and black — emerged as the ultimate power-dressing staple, complete with ruching, knotting and fiercely flouncy sleeves.
