On Friday, April 29, 2011, a star was born. Sure, it was technically the day that Kate Middleton married Prince William, and by default, was inducted into the royal family—but it was also the day that Sarah Burton, the designer of Alexander McQueen, put Kate’s sister, Pippa, in the gown that launched a thousand Facebook fan pages. Yes, Pippa’s posterior created a tabloid frenzy and rocketed her to stardom, and since then the Middleton’s have become the most famous sisters since the Kardashians. But which one has better style? SLIDESHOW: 10 reasons why we love KATE MIDDLETON

Kate vs. Pippa: Personality test
Quick: Pick one of them to have a beer with. It’s a no-brainer, right? Pippa for the win. Not only would Kate bring, like, hundreds of Mi5 agents (downer!) she’d also be totally on guard that the tabloids were secretly recording the conversation and probably wouldn’t say anything interesting the whole night. Meanwhile, Pippa—now there’s a girl who knows how to party. Plus, how amazing would it be to get the low-down on Hot Harry? Ten bucks says she’s smooched him.
Winner: Pippa

Kate vs. Pippa: Fascinator frenzy
It takes a lot of class to be able to wear a fascinator and not look completely ridiculous (cough, Princess Bea, cough). In the battle of fancy head gear, Kate is the clear winner. Perhaps it’s because her hair is so long, glossy and beautiful that it makes anything near it automatically look better, or maybe her head is better shaped for hats. Whatever it is, No-More-Waity-Katie consistently knocks it out of the park with her jaunty chapeaux. Girlfriend even wore Elmo strapped to her head and looked smoking—now that’s talent.

Kate vs. Pippa: Best beauty

Step away from the eyeliner, Kate. Even though she famously did her own makeup for her nuptuals last year, a lot has been said about the Duchess’s—er—interesting liner styles. Even Vivienne Westwood weighed in, telling London’s Sunday Times, “I think she’s got a problem with eye makeup. The sharp line around her eyes make her look hard—either she should be smudgy or wear none.” Pippa tends to keep her beauty a bit softer, relying more on glowing skin: reportedly, her biggest beauty crutch is frequent spray tans in the shade of Royal Mocha. Props to Pippa for her curvy, healthy and athletic bod—Kate always looks like she needs a couple Big Macs.

Kate vs. Pippa: Sunday style
In the battle of best off-duty style, Kate takes the cake. She can make flat shoes, a pair of Topshop jeans and a tucked-in blouse look like the height of sophistication. On the other hand, no matter what Pippa wears, it always looks like she got it from the bargain bin at Zara. (I just heard Alicia Silverstone’s Clueless voice in my head: “Way harsh, Tai.”) But, let’s be honest: Our pal Pippa’s not the best at accessorizing. You know that rule, that you should always remove one thing before leaving the house? Pippa didn’t get the memo. The worst offense: dangly earrings and sunglasses. It’s a lot of look.

Kate vs. Pippa: Gala get-ups.
Now, for our final and toughest category: best formal wear, We love how Pippa’s not afraid to take fashion risks, choosing bold colours, like this fire-engine Temperley London gown or bold prints, like this black floor-length floral number. Still, we had to deduct points for her love of satin. Just say no, Pippa! Kate, on the other hand, looks like she was made for beautiful dresses. Whether it’s a beaded Jenny Packham dress or a lilac gown by Alexander McQueen that emphasizes her slim waist, the Duchess always hits it out of the park. In the battle of the ballgowns, Kate wins because she always looks every inch the princess.
