Ciao Karl, Stella and Viktor & Rolf. There is a new kid on the H&M block who’s sure to cause masstige mayhem come November. Roberto Cavalli, the Italian fashion designer most notably known for his va-va-va-voom confections has just recently announced his upcoming collaboration with the Sweedish retailer. Cavalli will design a one-off collection for women and men which will consist of 45 pieces: 20 menswear and 25 womenswear, including sexy lingerie and matching accessories. Keep your eye out for saturated colours, embellished prints and high hemlines; signatures of the Cavalli style.

“As the first Italian designer in the history of H&M, I welcomed this invitation with enthusiasm,” says Cavalli in a recent release. “I am proud to bring the lively and positive spirit of my work to a new audience, one that will be able to see and interpret my style in an individual way.”

Margareta van den Bosch, H&M’s head of design shares the Italian’s passion stating, “When it comes to colours, prints and styles, Roberto Cavalli has created a world of his own: iconic and full of fantasy. There is no place for shyness and no possibility of ending up with a mainstream wardrobe of everyday basics. The Roberto Cavalli collections represent an exuberant, successful style.”

Boasting a regular clientele of Madonna, Charlize Theron, Jennifer Lopez and Victoria Beckham, the Roberto Cavalli at H&M collection will still carry his signature Florentine craftsmanship and sultry tailoring but with a more mass-market appeal. The line will be available in 200 selected H&M stores worldwide for a limited period beginning November 8, 2007.
