Its the jacket that will be everywhere once the temperatures cool: boxy, oversized and checked. The blazer first appeared on the fall runways—at Tibi it was paired with a matching mini skirt and almost-sheer black tights resulting in an ’80s power look. At Ellery and Calvin Klein the jacket felt more rooted in workwear—matchy-matchy and buttoned-up. And Balenciagas take was way, way off-kilter thanks to a silhouette that made the wearer look like they walked through a strong wind.

The street style set was quick to adapt the look. In Paris, the jacket was remixed with athleisure bottoms, layered over hoodies and paired with stomp-y black boots with the sleeves often pushed up to reveal the layers underneath. All these varied interpretations hint at the blazer’s surprising versatility. It can elevate the look of a T-shirt and denim, or dress down a slinky black skirt or slip dress.
