Donatella Versace Speaks Out On Michael Kors Sale

Michael Kors acquires Versace in a multi-billion dollar deal this week, Kotn opens a location in New York and other fashion news you might have missed this week.

In big (like billions of dollars big) fashion moves this week, Michael Kors announced its acquisition of Versace in a $2.12 billion deal. Along with the sale, Michael Kors Holdings will be renamed Capri Holdings, whose portfolio now includes three major fashion players: Michael Kors Collection, Jimmy Choo and Versace.

Fans of the iconic Italian luxury brand wondered what this meant for the future of the house and what role creative director and face of the label, Donatella Versace, would have. To address these rumours, she released a personal statement via Instagram to reassure the fashion world that the Versace style would remain as glamorous as ever and that she wasn't going anywhere.

Climbing the entrance of Kotn NYC is the #kotnglyphwall, a collection of our favourite hieroglyph symbols. Hieroglyphs, or hieroglyphics, were the formal writing system used in ancient Egypt. Created in the 32nd century BC, the language has almost 1000 distinct signs representing letters, words, and phrases. In the 5th century, knowledge of hieroglyphic writing was lost, and the language wasn't deciphered again until the 1820s by Jean-François Champollion, with the help of the Rosetta Stone. - Designed in our offices in Toronto, we worked with @weld_done_designs_ to craft the hieroglyphs from scratch. Watch the step-by-step process on our NYC highlight. - 📍: Explore Kotn NYC at 112 Mercer Street in SoHo.
