Travel in Style: The top 3 fall runway looks to wear at Claridge’s in London
Claridge’s gets dressed up for fashion week! Butterflies and flowers adorn the ballroom entrance ahead of Mulberry’s fall show. I had a pretty posh home base while covering
fall/winter 2013 London Fashion Week: I stayed at
Claridge’s, one of the most fashionable hotels in London—and the world. In honour of
the historic hotel’s extensive fashion connections, here are three of my favourite fall/winter 2013 runway looks, which just happen to pair perfectly with a few of the hotel’s standout spaces.
Royal Reds Prabal Gurung is known for his red-carpet-worthy dresses. This cocktail number from his fall/winter 2013 collection—
in the season’s richest shade—channels the bespoke luxury of Claridge’s new Map Room (which has its very own red carpet). More room/runway pairings
The oversized stitching on this fall/winter 2013 Acne Studios look reminded me of the art-deco details in the living room of this in-demand
blue and white Linley suite (designed by the Queen’s nephew David Linley).
This Tom Ford “zebra” dress—complete with a mane down the back—could have been inspired by the antique zebra rocking horse in the Claridge’s lobby. (I was told it’s one of only two in the world.) It’s definitely my favourite runway-to-hotel fashion connection.
