Toronto Fashion Week: Hayley reports from Day 1
Hayley, wearing Jeremy Laing, at the Holt Renfrew show.
Fashion Television WOW! What an incredible first day of Fashion Week! I woke up bright and early this morning to meet the
Fashion Television crew, who are shooting a biography of my Fashion Week experience. I got my coffee, and we were immediately off to my first fitting for Martin Lim.
11 a.m. Martin Lim fitting I walked in the doors of 30 Maud Street for my fitting, and as soon as I saw the clothes I was stunned. They were absolutely gorgeous—bright pinks, with bold, black stripes down the leg. So cool but sexy!
11:30 a.m. More
Fashion Television I had so much fun with the television crew! We talked about my career so far, and I got to tell the great story of how I was discovered, which I always love because it reminds me of how crazy and amazing this whole journey has been so far.
1 p.m. Line fitting Next, we were off to North York for my Line fitting at PYA Importers. I always love being able to go to PYA and see John and Jenn—I did their Fall/Winter campaign and they’re so great to work with. Plus the clothes are to die for. Then I had a little surprise waiting for me back at the agency….
2:30 p.m. At Elmer Olsen Models Back at the agency, Elmer surprised me by lightening my eyebrows! How cool is that?! He said it was necessary to "complete my model look for Fashion Week". I guess now I’m finally ready to take on the week! Highlights, check! Eyebrows, check! Clothes, check! Time for the show!

3:45 p.m Fashion Week tents After a quick rehearsal for Holt Renfrew’s show, it was off to hair and makeup! I was walking in Mackage and Jeremey Laing, so the makeup was clean and natural with a defined brow—no mascara or eye liner/ Then there was the stunning gelled back hair, backcombed on top of the head to complete the look. Once we moved backstage, my nerves fell away, and the adrenaline kicked in as I slid into my first outfit: Mackage leather pants and a bright red coat.
8:30 p.m. Holt Renfrew show It was time. The music began, and as each girl hit the catwalk, I got closer and closer to the runway. I walked on, confident and feeling great, and then before I knew it I was back in the lineup for the Jeremy Laing portion. I realized I was the last girl to walk; I got to CLOSE the Holt Renfrew show!! I was stunned, so I walked with as much power as I could and was greeted by the camera as soon as I got off with a huge smile on my face. I couldn’t have asked for a better way to start off Fashion Week, from
Fashion Television to closing the show. It was an amazing start! I can’t wait to see what awaits me tomorrow! xoxo Hayley
