Knix Launches Customizable Shapewear
Shapewear how you want it.

Knix
Around those close to her, Knix founder and president Joanna Griffiths is “notorious” for cutting up shapewear in an effort to make them actually invisible under the pieces in her wardrobe. After doing this for years, she and the Knix design team had an “aha” moment: What if the brand’s popular shapewear could be changed to meet certain needs?
A year and a half later, that spark of an idea has become a reality, because, today, Knix is launching a line of customizable shapewear—something the Canadian brand says is the first of its kind. Each piece in the line is made using patented technology that places various cut lines on the shapewear. Wearers can use scissors to cut along the line they want to customize things like the back area without sacrificing any support or causing the fabric to roll up.
“You get the benefit of owning this piece of shapewear that’s going to be really heavy-hitting, and then you have the bonus of being able to modify it as you wear it so that it’s invisible under more nuanced outfits,” Griffith says. “The alternative is that you go out and buy a very specific shapewear item that you might only get to wear every so often. This gives you the versatility to make decisions as you go and unlock parts of your wardrobe and let you wear more options.”
Available in a size range from XS to XXXXL++, the new shapewear is offered in three silhouettes: a Scoop Neck Shaper Thong Bodysuit (with built-in bra support and cut lines on the back so that in can worn with low-back dresses and tops), a Scoop Neck Shaper Bodysuit (also with built-in bra support and customizable at the back) and an Open Bust Mid-Thigh Shaper Bodysuit (which can be adjust at both the back and thigh areas and be worn with or without a bra for lower necklines). The garments also come in a choice of black, beige and brown colourways.
“Having always been on the bustier side, I have never in my life been able to wear backless or lower-back items. It’s just been a no-go for me, and so that has been a huge unlock [with this product]—especially as styles are changing,” Griffiths says, explaining th full-coverage customizable bodysuit is already in regular rotation in her wardrobe. In the ’90s, for example, when I was growing up, it was kind of the era of low-cut tops and cleavage. I think what we’re seeing now [in fashion] is that sexy actually can be a lot more unexpected than that—it can come with a more subtle low-back, a cut-out or different things like that. I love that I can finally wear all of those items and still get the support of a bra—it’s truly a game-changer for me.”
Knix’s customizable shapewear is available to shop now. Prices start at $115.
