Designer Erdem Moralioglu was thinking about a group of friends in an English country house mixing together their wardrobes when he lent his poetic flair to his collection for H&M, which comes out next month. When the ELLE Canada team got their hands on the pieces, we couldnt help but share our take on the best buys. Florals for fall? Actually groundbreaking.

“I loved this dress the moment I saw it. Florals are a bit out of my comfort zone – I’m a minimalist with a closet crammed full of neutrals. But something about the A-line shape and the pleats spoke to me. While I typically find flowers a tad too girlie for my taste, the black ensured it was still very “me.” I styled the dress with my fave pair of Loeffler Randall heels. I felt like I needed the platforms to give me some height and balance out the volume of the dress. I also opted for a boldish lip for the same reason. (Shoutout to M.A.C. “Heavy Petting.”) But, since I prefer flats on the daily, I’d probably style these with my Alexander Wang booties or some Nikes.”

“I love the Victorian styling of this blouse mixed with the more up-to-date details, like pleats and lace sleeves. It’s a little different for me – I don’t wear a lot of pattern – but it’s a gentle, pretty way to step out of my comfort zone. It’s actually perfect with my staple black jeans and booties.”

“Here’s what I love about a good statement blazer: It’s a saviour for those ‘I have nothing to wear’ days—especially if there’s a fancy outing in store. This satin, embroidered number can be paired with a matching set of trousers from the collab, but that felt like too much of a “look” to me. So I stuck with my kicky Isabel Marant pants (which I wear at least once a week) and ’90s schoolgirl-style lug-sole platfroms. And I love that it’s double-breasted, which means it looks great with the buttons done up.”
