NYFW Spring 2014: Four things I liked from the first day of Fashion Week

Happy Fashion Week, everyone! Today, I eased into the madness, attending
Rag & Bone and Helmut Lang shows. Here are some of the things that caught my eye from Day 1 of Fashion Week. 1) The popsicles and white wine sangria (in mason jars!) at Rag & Bone. Let’s face it—there’s no dignified way to eat a popsicle. And watching fashion girls try to manage in their six inch heels, with their jackets artfully draped over their shoulders made me giggle more that a few times. 2) The finale at Rag & Bone. Marcus Wainwright and David Neville paused after they took a bow to grab their kids from the front row and usher them backstage. It was adorable.
More behind-the-scenes of New York Fashion Week after the jump…
3) The stingray clutches at Helmut Lang. Designers Nicole and Michael Colovos are launching hangbags this season—think bonded, perforated leathers made of exotic skins. I want one of everything.
4) Taylor Momsen at Helmut Lang. First of all, I barely recognized her—she’s wearing a lot less of her trademark raccoon eye makeup these days. It was the weirdest celeb sighting yet (even stranger than Stacy Keibler, who sat beside her). Jenny Humphrey, we missed you!
